First up, we hung out on the park deck at the Rockstar Energy Open that housed rippers, local legends, Olympians, and everyone else in between all weekend long in Portland, Oregon. With names like Greyson Fletcher, Tom Schaar, Keegan Palmer, Nick Peterson, and more made for a mind-melting men’s park event. Talent pool aside, what made the vibe of this park deck different from any other was the synergy created by the skateboarders, the energy brought by the fans, and the broadcast hosts behind the microphone, making it all feel like an elevated state of being. Side Hustle: Eui Joo Denim by Julian Lewis

In this new series, Side Hustles, Platfrm explores passion projects, avocations, and other extracurricular pursuits. First up, we have Julian Lewis, who you may be familiar with for his big handrail skating from video parts in Foundation’s Splender, and is one of the Rockstar Energy VQS qualifiers. Skateboarding aside, Julian has grown an admiration for clothing styles and how they complement a person while on their board. Drawing inspiration from vintage clothing, Julian creates handmade and sown clothing under his Korean birth name, Eui Joo and has slowly progressed to become a niche purveyor of denim items.
