Donnie Mortensen, a skater from Colorado turned dirt mounds and grassy hills into spots just by throwing huge tires on his regular board. Not only are some of the tricks pretty mindblowing in their own right, but it also captures one of the most important aspects of skateboarding: going out with your friends and doing the dumbest things possible. – JENKEM
Scoping out Roosevelt Island with Citi Bike Boyz – JENKEM
JENKEM hit up head Citi Bike Boy Jerome Peel to see if he’d be up for the challenge of hitting the Roosevelt Island monument dedicated to FDR. Luckily, they were able to dupe security, get the clip, and walk away without being detained this time around. Jerome waltzed in and made it look ridiculously easy.
Shop Talk at Tenant Skate Shop’s 3 Year Anniversary – JENKEM
JENKEM stopped by Tenant’s 3rd anniversary party in Brooklyn. Even though there was free beer and plumes of weed smoke, the crowd that they thought would be “too cool” to answer questions gave them some of the most thoughtful responses we’ve gotten yet.
Junnosuke Hasegawa for Lesque Skateboards – JENKEM
Junnosuke has both the style and ability to make Street League-level skating look entertaining. It’s rare someone other than Yuto Horigome can do that for us, so JENKEM thought they’d showcase Junnosuke’s part just in case he blows up and becomes the next Japanese skateboarding superstar.
Ground Glass: Austyn Gillette – JENKEM
Yes, we are well aware that Austyn has already filmed in 16mm a lot in the past, but JENKEM didn’t care. His flair and spot selection lend themselves extremely well to the saturated textures of film, so we’re not complaining here. Settle in and get ready to watch some ultra-crispy skating caught on technology invented in 1923, because we know you won’t be disappointed.
A Quick Coffee Run in Sheffield with Shaun Currie – JENKEM
Shaun is a jolly skater from the UK. JENKEM was only able to film with him for an hour or two but decided to throw it together into a mini bite-sized segment anyway to put people onto his heartwarming personality and playful skating. Hopefully JENKEM will visit him again soon and get a full Hanging Out With on our next try.
Shop Talk at Plush Skate Shop Grand Opening in New Haven, CT – JENKEM
JENKEM took the drive up to New Haven, CT to the grand opening of Alexis Sablone and Trevor Thompson’s new shop, Plush. JENKEM hung out and got to see what their neighbors across the way are feeling and what they’re not vibing with at all.
Premiere: Fuxl, Lori, and the Vienna crew in “TURTLE 3” – JENKEM
Fuxl isn’t just a talented skateboarder, he’s also a medical doctor. He balances saving lives and risking his own while skating Vienna’s sketchier spots. You may remember him from JENKEM’s historic spot tour of Vienna, Austria a couple weeks back, where he was one of the more informative and hilarious hosts. JENKEM is proud to promote his newest part in Turtle 3 with friends Lori, Luki, Niki and Christoph. Featuring Thomas”Fuxl” Fuchs, Lorenz “Lori“ Sutter, Luki Krobath, Niki Katranas and Christoph Voglbauer.
PREMIERE: Larry Lanza in “While I’m Here” – JENKEM
In between hosting Shop Talk and working on Jenkem site content, Larry Lanza filmed a couple of tricks in “While I’m Here” a new indie vid out of Long Island. Larry was obviously never a hot shot pro or anything, but we think he holds his own as a fellow 9-5er and we’re all rooting for him. – JENKEM
Checking out the Historic Spots of Budapest, Hungary – JENKEM
The Rios Crew, and their resident English speaker, Ricsi Mátyás, showed filmer Paul Labadie around their hometown. They don’t really skate these main spots seen in this episode because they usually hunt for spots in the outskirts of Budapest, but they’re always down to show strangers around the city. Follow along as the Rios crew shows JENKEM a bit of what Budapest has to offer.
Shop Talk at El Sereno Skatepark in Los Angeles – JENKEM
JENKEM headed from Huntington to LA to hear what type of shit the LA locals had to say about the state of skateboarding.
Helsinki, Finland With Marius Syvanen | Neighborhoods – JENEKM
JENKEM took a flight to Helsinki, Finland to meet up with their friend and Finnish-born pro, Marius Syvanen. Since this was JENKEM’s first time exploring the capital of Finland, Marius played the role of tour guide for the day and showed them the ledges that tons of local Fins have skated, filled em in on some fun facts like “Finland has more Saunas than cars,” and even took them to a new spot he’s been itching to skate.
