From Boeing jet engines to your spaghetti-stained microwave, chances are if you crack them open an SKF bearing will fall out. We had to know what this behemoth of a company wanted with the crumbs that is the skateboarding industry, so we hopped in the Jenkem private jet (aka Spirit Airlines economy) to do some digging.
Ground Glass: Ronnie Kessner – JENKEM
Very few skate videographers attempt to capture skateboarding on 16mm film. And for good reason! At $50 a minute, you’re at the mercy of high costs, old equipment and the consistency of skaters. Videographer James Thomson was up for the challenge and has Ronnie Kessner skating through Thailand for his newest episode of Ground Glass. Settle in and get ready to watch some warm, ultra-analog skating caught on technology invented in 1923.
Hotdogs, Beer and Treflips: The 999 Challenge – JENKEM
Skateboarding has always been one big sausage fest. So Jenkem figured why not actually throw one? Enter the 999 challenge. What ensued was one of skateboarding’s most glorious sporting events. No ramps, no pros, no big shoe sponsors, just a hot grill, a cooler full of ice, and straight flat ground tricks. The boys were quickly separated from the men as their twisted idea became a reality.

An Afternoon with Caleb Mcneely – JENKEM
Caleb is one of the newer faces around NYC that Jenkem’s met in passing but never really hung out with. Instead of just bumping into each other everywhere around the city, they decided to go on a little Blue Park date: get some food, play some pool, hear about his new HUF part and film a little afternoon segment out of it.
G-FILES 003 – JENKEM
G-FILES 003 is the latest from videographer and editor Ian Ostrowski. Ian’s a friend of Jenkem, a recurring contributor, and he holds it down with a dope crew of up-and-comers out of the Pacific Northwest.
Hanging Out With… Akwasí Owusu – JENKEM
By now, you have probably caught a glimpse of Akwasí Owusu’s dumpster-bashing wallride wizardry, but what do you know about the skater who put it down? Tag along with Jenkem as they push through Manhattan skating odd spots, ending up at the Met for some ancient inspiration.
Ground Glass: Chima Ferguson – JENKEM
Chima Ferguson’s no-frills style may seem like an odd choice to showcase in artsy 16mm, but it just goes to show you the versatility that comes with doing your tricks with style and power like he does. Settle in and get ready to watch some ultra-crispy skating caught on technology invented in 1923, and keep an eye out for more Ground Glass features to come in the future.
