In JENKEM’s latest episode they reached out to Arin, to see what she was, and is currently, watching. Arin is a relatively new face to the larger skate world, so use this as a guide to get a feel for her skating before she drops her highly-anticipated first part.
JENKEM – Skateboarding w/ Comedian Mark Normand
We weren’t fully aware of Mark or his comedy until a few friends of ours sent us a photo of him skateboarding as a kid. We started doing our own research and went down a rabbit hole of his jokes about bad news, being bad at small talk, gay marriage, and this story about a maniac. Growing up he was definitely a skate nerd and we were interested in how it shaped his life and comedy after he hung it up in his teens.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of live stand-up going on right now, so we couldn’t go sit in on one of his shows. Instead, we took a walk through one of the easiest places to make fun of things in New York: Tompkins Square Park. We cut him loose and had him skate and riff a little as he broke out his rusty go-to tricks in the freezing cold. – JENKEM
JENKEM – The Sit Down Ep. 2
The boys are finally back with episode two of The Sit Down. You may remember the first episode featuring Carpet Co. Jenkem dropped way back in April 2020. This time around, Tommy and Jason ditched the interviews and stuck to the skits bringing you seven solid minutes of skate buffoonery. They’re still out there taking light jabs at your favorite skaters and exposing skating’s most tired tropes, so hopefully everyone gets a good laugh out of it.
PREMIERE – Noah Fuzi’s “Common Courtesy” Part
Noah is what some of y’all would typically call an “ATV,” since he’s comfortable throwing down big transition tricks just as much as he is doing tricks at crusty street spots, and can take a slam like a champ. He’s also a low-key contest skater and a bit of an actor, so that told us there’s a bit more than meets the eye when it comes to this guy. Guess not all Australians are all about shotgunning beers and peeing into their own mouths. – JENKEM
JENKEM – Hanging Out With… Sunny Suljic
If you’re like JENKEM, you first saw Sunny when the trailers for Mid90s dropped. His performance in the film was undeniably good, regardless of how you felt about the movie overall, and the role turned him into a bit of an overnight celeb. He got a lot of attention from kids who were fans of the movie, but it also put him in the spotlight as an up-and-coming skater with sponsors like Illegal Civ and Adidas.
In JENKEM’s newest Hanging Out With, they caught up with the 15-year-old and visited a psychic to see what’s projected to be next in line for him.
JENKEM – Messing around at Yardsale’s London HQ
Although it’s a quickie, the Yardsale crew filmed this video on a random night while they were hanging out at their offices, making a ruckus, getting some food, and skating some makeshift ramps, presumably while “properly pissed mate.” This video may not be as in-depth as the one of Jenkem’s visit to the Pass~Port offices in Sydney was, but it still offers some insight into the overall spirit of the brand and where they actually come from. Featuring Jake Church, Curtis Pearl, Dan Kreitem, Zak Mayell, Rafski and Josh Church.
JENKEM – Exploring Some of Hong Kong’s Crustiest Spots
What’s it like skating Hong Kong? Our friends Ollie Rodgers and Mikey Silva tried to hit some lesser known spots and show you the unique terrain that Hong Kong has to offer.
JENKEM – Finding a Full Pipe in New Jersey with Oski Rozenberg & Fred Gall
It hasn’t happened in a while, but every so often a perfect storm of skate opportunity brews in New York, and you end up getting to do things like spend the day with Oski Rozenberg, Fred Gall, and a full pipe in New Jersey. – JENKEM
JENKEM – Discussing Skateboarding with Filmmaker Werner Herzog
Werner Herzog is a pillar of cinema—a pioneer known for his prolific output, quick wit, and uncommon approach to film. He’s a guy who brings a true sense of uniqueness to an industry increasingly overrun with superheroes. But what does he have to do with skateboarding?
JENKEM – Bao Nguyen and Troy Gipson in “Genesis 2”
If you haven’t seen Genesis 2, by Seattle-based filmer, Ian Ostrowski, Jenkem chose two stand-out parts from Bao Nguyen and Troy Gipson to show to you all.
PREMIERE: Mike Mag’s “Burden Of Dreams” – JENKEM
Florida native Mike Mag headed down to South America to forget about the burdens of life in The States, and to film an entire part at spots found while traveling down the Amazon River.
The title of Mike’s part is a slight give it away to his inspiration, but if you are unfamiliar with film director Werner Herzog, you might not have caught the reference to his film Fitzcarraldo, or the accompanying documentary about how it was made, Burden of Dreams.
JENKEM – The Second Coming of Brandon Turner
Brandon Turner has come in and out of the skate spotlight over the years, but if you kept up with his output over the course of 2020, then you saw him shock the entire industry and redefine what we thought skaters were capable of. Take a look behind what went into one of the best skate career resurgences of all time.
