The Des Moines Streetstyle Open hit its fifth year, turning the city into a multiday skate takeover. Skaters from across the country linked up with the local scene to session the streets and be part of a one-of-a-kind even. Powered by Skate DSM with backup from USA Skateboarding, Subsect Skateshop, and the city itself, the Des Moines Streetstyle Open continues to push to new levels. Hit play to catch locals hype up their event and watch heavy hitters like Jake Kelly, Colin Slew, Gabe Vigliotti, Josh Douglas, Jake Ilardi, and many more rippers.
Cruise through Covina, just outside East LA, with Josh Douglas and the homies Jack Olson and Christian Dufrene as they mix mellow lines with heavy tricks. For Josh, it always looks too easy. His style is effortless and his attitude always appears to be carefree. The dude is seriously beaming with positivity and has an impressive lightheartedness to the way he carries himself. But his definition of a “rocket” flip is more strict than most, and his desire to do things right shines through in his skating. In the streets, he handles his business. Follow the boys to a few parks and then into the streets to stack a few clips, with ease, in this episode of Spot to Spot: Josh Douglas.
The most anticipated hill bomb of the year was resurrected over the weekend in Los Angeles, California where hundreds of skate rats donned costumes and padded the sidelines to contain the mayhem. Six years running strong, the Halloween Hellbomb has morphed from a grassroots-level gathering of hill bombers to a cornerstone event that’s looked forward to each year. Making their appearance most notable were Dern brothers Kanaan and Dalton, Dylan Witkin, Taylor Kirby, Josh Douglas, and ruler of the underground Greyson Fletcher. Cheers to Hellbomb committee members Austin Leleu, Bobby Bils, Kyle Walsh, Cory Keen, and everyone else involved for pulling another hell-raising event.
