The leading light of Japan’s underground skate scene, Japanese Super Rat is taking non-conformity and no-complies right to the cutting edge of Japanese creative output in skateboarding currently.
Madars rocks out with the man at the forefront of Japan’s skateboarding counter-culture before linking up with the guiding spirits behind the Evisen and Tightbooth brands to find out what makes this bundle of energy tick just as he does.
Beginning in the beachside town of Zushi, Madars and Kento retrace the formative moves which kickstarted the creation of the punk juggernaut that would become the Japanese Super Rat phenomenon of today.
Nightfall in Tokyo brings out a cast of supporting characters which help shape the wider picture of the currents within this dynamic and globally influential youth culture movement in 2025.
From fever dreams to nocturnal scenes, punk meets perseverance as Skate Tales rolls out with the Emperor of the Underground in a rare glimpse into the hidden side of Japanese skate culture!
We may all know Tiago Lemos as the king of pop, the street skater who can hit higher obstacles than anyone else. The biggest name in the game today is pro for Paul Rodriguez’s elite Primitive Skateboards and has his own signature New Balance shoe, but his story started somewhere very different indeed.
Born into poverty in the tiny town of Jaguariúna (it means river of the black jaguars in Portuguese), Tiago and his friends flew homemade kites and discovered skateboarding as a cheap way to stay out of trouble. From sleeping on the streets of one of the world’s most dangerous cities, to skating for 12 hours a day with no food, Tiago led a dreamer’s existence which relied on the kindness of friends and the balm of hope to keep his path in life headed toward a positive outcome.
In this episode of Skate Tales we dive into Tiago’s untold story—the underdog tale of a kid chasing something bigger—as Madars’s heads to Brazil to meet with Tiago’s childhood friends Kaue Cossa, Fabio Castilho, Sandro Sobral and Lucas Nascimento to learn how the biggest name in skateboarding today came up through the world’s most challenging skate scenes—and kept both his dreams, and their friendships, alive.
Madars follows Dalton, Destin and Kanaan Dern across America from Florida to California in order to discover how they turned the tables on the skate industry and cracked the algorithm to online success, taking in some sketchy rail action along the way. Featuring cameos from Jamie Thomas and Bam Margera, this series opener is an episode for all you dreamers out there!
Leading the charge was a Red Bull Skateboarding squad consisting of Madars Apse, Angelo Caro, Aldana Bertran, TJ Rogers and CJ Collins, all of whom teamed up with four of Barcelona’s finest core skate shops for a series of local challenges dotted throughout the city.

The roots revivalist is one of skateboarding’s great soul survivors: longstanding member of the hellriding Anti-Hero team, elite vert skater, background pool charger and a skater almost revered for his spontaneous creativity in the gnarliest pits in the game.

Andy Anderson is the people’s champion: a skateboarder for all seasons who made being an outsider cool. The era-jumping, helmet-wearing skateboarding phenomenon can freestyle like it never went out of fashion, rip monster rails like a mosher, AND represent his country in the biggest contests of them all! Andy represents all sides of skateboarding- but, what’s more, he does so in his own signature way.
