We’re back to Saku Arena in Estonia for the 20th anniversary of Simple Session – a skate contest by skaters, for skaters, and on some seriously big transition. Nate Wessel is the mastermind behind this year’s course build and it fairly summarizes the mantra of ‘go big or go home’. Smash the play button and catch the full replay from the contest.
The Grand Opening – EP5 – Forward: Woodward Park City
The day has finally arrived, and Woodward Park City is officially open to the public! With a star-studded cast of athletes also ready to celebrate, everyone is stoked to see all that this one-of-a-kind facility has to offer. As legends like Tony Hawk and Ryan Nyquist put on a show indoors, Red Gerard, Tom Wallisch and others test out the mountain park just steps outside. Tony Hawk speaks to the crowd during the official ribbon cutting ceremony before Nate Wessel and crew pack up their tools and say goodbye…for now.
Familiar Faces – EP4 – Forward: Woodward Park City
It’s all hands on deck as Nate Wessel and the rest of the team rush to get everything ready for the following day’s Grand Opening. As the California Skateparks crew works through the night, a few familiar faces show up to check out the foam pit and airbag, while patiently waiting for the park to unveil. Once the dust settles, Tony Hawk and a talented cast of rippers christen the concrete with a heavy session.
Jake Hayes Visits Woodward Riviera Maya – EP9 – Build Woodward Presented By Dickies
Construction on Woodward Riviera Maya is officially complete! Before their big Grand Opening celebration, Dickies Team Skater Jake Hayes set out for an exclusive tour with Ramp Builder Nate Wessel and to break in the new skateparks.
Animal Chin Street – EP3 – Build Woodward Presented By Dickies
In the first episode of the season, Nate Wessel and the Build Woodward crew recreated the most iconic ramp in the history of skateboarding, the Animal Chin Ramp. The legendary ramp was constructed in the back corner of what was once just an ordinary tennis court. To complete the transformation from tennis court to skatepark, Nate went to work on designing a concrete street park to surround the Chin Ramp and brought in the boys from California Skateparks to pour some concrete and complete the project. Foreman Santiago Lopez takes us through the creation of two specific features in the new park: a steep corner-quarterpipe and a cantilevered bump-to-bump with some cool concrete finishing touches. Once the concrete is dry and the park is complete, Jake Hayes, Ronnie Sandoval, Peter Hewitt, Vincent Alvarez, Tom Knox and Adrian Adrid from the Dickies Skate Team stop by to check it out and shred.
