Meet The Local Skaters Of Ghana With Jaakko Ojanen & Crew | SKATE AFRICA
Skate scenes in their infancy often have a guiding light, a champion and pioneer who evangelises and develops and agitates at the absolute grassroots level, to try and make things happen for the new people skating hooks every day once they have access to it.
This is happening all over the world right now, and it is the purest version of skateboarding’s promise. As a counterpoint to all the upriver skate activity going on in the world today, wonderful though that doubtless is, shining a light not just on these nascent scenes but the builders of those scenes is a dollop of wholesome radness nobody can have too much of.
So, when South African skate evangelis Yann Horowitz, Chenai Gwandure and Jackson Pilz suggested continuing Red Bull’s drop- ins with the diverse skate scenes throughout the continent by heading to Ghana to meet Sandy Alibo and the Accra skaters, Jaakko Ojanen leapt at the once-in-a-lifetime chance to bring his magic feet to the party. What was created proved to be a pivotal skate happening for the Accra scene; one which will never be forgotten by anyone involved. Absorb Patrik Wallner’s awesome film from the tour up top there, and roll back around in a week’s time as the squad roll into Nairobi, Kenya!

Lights, camera, 3M tape, action. The Visual team of JP Souza, Matt Miller, Shmatty Chaffin, Joey Brezinski, and Nathan Ko turned the lights off in LA for Skate & Create, then lit up some famous streets spots like you’ve never seen before.
Red Bull – Thank You Skateboards in “HOA” | SKATE & CREATE x BEHIND THE TEAMS
It’s Torey Pudwill and Daewon Song skating the same spots we all learned to skate on – the sidewalks, curbs, and manny pads in the neighborhood. There’s no place like home, and there are no two skaters we’d rather watch skate and create in LA than Torey and Daewon.
Red Bull: Ancient Stone to Public Skatespot with Torey Pudwill & Crew | LARVIKITE LINES
When the opportunity arose to visit Lundhs Real Stone quarry and create a permanent Larvikite skatepark for the town’s skate scene, Torey Pudwill, Chris Haslam and Angelo Caro flew in to link up with local pro Deedz and session the 300 million-year-old terrain in situ – before bringing it all down from the mountain quarry to create a permanent skate space in Larvik itself.
Marvel at the wonder of nature, the ingenuity of humanity and the radness of skateboarding in Larvikite Lines above. If you’re ever in Larvik, be sure to hit up their new skate spot courtesy of Didrik Galasso and Lundhs Real Stone.
