Vans Europe Presents: Check Mate | Skate | VANS

Netherlands has flown under the skate radar for years. While Amsterdam usually gets a bit more attention, a lot of people still don’t know that you can take the train and flee the famous canals and cobblestone streets to cross the country in less than 3 hours and skate some modern architecture in Rotterdam, Utrecht or The Hague. In 2021, the Vans Europe crew decided to hop on the train to visit all of these modern spots and check out the city’s local scenes. What started out as film with Jip Koorevaar and Tjerk Oosting, quickly turned out to be more than that. Over the course of a year, the crew captured lots of content, with more skaters joining the party – not only for the skating but also for the animations, photos and music. The video evolved into something bigger than just a part and celebrated the wider Dutch Vans skate family.

VANS X VALLARTA SKATE PROJECT | VANS

Vallarta Skate Project was formed by a passionate skateboarding community in 2016 with the initiative to promote the sport and give young people the opportunity to develop motor skills, emotional security and self-expression in a positive way. Since then, they’ve designed and built fun skate elements all throughout Puerto Vallarta, have hosted events for children, and continue to transform negative perspectives that locals may have about skateboarding.

For this project, Vallarta Skate Project built the Rio-mar Skate Connection, consisting of new skate ramps placed along the Pitillal River Path in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They also threw an opening party for locals to experience their new skate park, and become a part of their community.

Started by Chris Milic and Jesse Alba, Frog Skateboards is less of a brand and more of a group of friends that don’t care about being pro-skaters or becoming the best board brand in the world, but rather focus on being the torchbearers of fun within the ever evolving world of skateboarding.

Guided by Italian legends such as Gino & Jacopo Carozzi, and on Gino own words, “the team had to get technical” to reinvent ways to skate the already famous spots that Milan has to offer. Featuring Chris Pfanner, Mattia Turco, Marco Kada, Rob Maatman, Schianta Lepori, Willow Voges Fernandes, Martino Cattaneo, Helena Long, Andrea Carugo, Victor Pellegrin, Samuel Norgren, Albert Nyberg, Flo Marfain, Sergio Reinhardt, Aurora Steri and Miriam Marino.
