MIKEY TAYLOR: Spend Less Than You Make | World of X Games
During the first decade of the 2000s, the name Mikey Taylor was synonymous with clean street lines, misplacing huge endorsement checks in the house and being one of the first skateboarders ever to sign with Rob Dyrdek’s fledgling Street League. Then he started an investment company. It’s not the typical path out of skateboarding and Mikey fully acknowledges that. In fact, he’s kept one foot in the skateboarding world to help fellow pro skateboarders be smarter with their money. And along the way, Mikey’s taken his talents for investing and spread the word through social media.
MARIAH DURAN: Everything I Did Was For Skateboarding | World of X Games
In the first few years of X Games competitions, Mariah Duran was still slinging pizzas and doing fundraising to earn the necessary money to travel to competitions. Then, in 2016, Duran earned her first silver medal, and everything changed. She took her earnings, bought a car and went into heavy production mode, which earned her more prestigious placings at comps and then the opportunity for her to skate full-time. Nowadays, the Women’s Skateboard Street podium has become a familiar place for Duran to land at X Games. But with competitions taking a back seat this year, Duran isn’t slowing down at all.
