On Go Skate Day 2025, The Skatepark Project & Vans celebrated the reopening of the Brooklyn Banks with a skate jam hosted by Steve Rodriguez.
The Brooklyn Banks is an iconic skate spot in New York City’s Lower East Side, long stewarded by skateboarders, even before becoming a sanctioned skate space in 2006. After more than 15 years of closure, the entire 9-acre brick plaza has officially made its triumphant return.
This reopening was made possible through partnership with Gotham Park, Steve Rodriguez, Vans and Vans Skate, the VF Foundation, the City of New York, NYC Parks, and the NYC Department of Transportation—a community effort to restore one of skateboarding’s most historic spaces.
New York City came together to activate the Banks on #GoSkateDay with skating, music, food, and family fun.
