In the first few years of X Games competitions, Mariah Duran was still slinging pizzas and doing fundraising to earn the necessary money to travel to competitions. Then, in 2016, Duran earned her first silver medal, and everything changed. She took her earnings, bought a car and went into heavy production mode, which earned her more prestigious placings at comps and then the opportunity for her to skate full-time.
