Shakespeare once said, “Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.” In the case of the loveable, triggered vietnam veteran, John Rambo, all three are true. In this very special Kev’s Kreations, Kev is visited by none other than Rambo himself. Watch as Kev sets out to make a simple camo complete only to be slowly possessed by what can only be described as the spirit of deranged vietnam veteran with nothing to lose. The plan was simple: build a camo complete using Krux Trucks, Spitfire Wheels, Indy Bearings, A Paisley Skateboard, and MOB Griptape with the help of a custom Acembly Backpack. But something went terribly wrong. At what point Kev was overtaken by the spirit of John Rambo is unclear. But one thing is certain, watching him claw his way back to his former self after going on a curb slashing, throat cutting, bowel piercing rampage makes this one Kev’s Kreations you won’t want to miss.
Mini El Toro Skateboard Contest
You’ll never need an excuse to skate, but it takes a special kind of excuse to throw an event like the CCS El Torito Skate Contest. In this particular case, it was the grand opening of our CCS retail space in Portland, OR. By noon, the day of the event, the $2000 in cash prizes and scope of El Torito loomed large in the mind’s of every skateboarder within a 100 mile radius of the new CCS retail store. Regardless if they were going to skate El Torito or not, every skateboarder in the area was definitely getting ready to head out to the contest and cash in on the promises of free giveaways, beer, pizza, and good skating.

Go Skateboarding Day 2017: Pop For Pizza
If a skateboard trick only takes you about one second to perform and you can get a free slice of pizza for that skateboard trick, then that means you could’ve got 3,600 slices of pizza an hour if you were some sort of super human. This is the kind of math we ended up doing this year on Go Skateboarding Day! Our friends at Sizzle Pie hooked us up with 25 pizzas to go all over Portland and trade slices for hammers! All in all we gave 250 slices of pizza to 250 skaters at parks all around CCS headquarters! Check out our recap of the day!
CCS to SLO: CCS Am Trip Video Clips
It was just a few days, but we stacked a few clips when we hit the Central Coast with the new CCS Ams. Here’s a little cut of the shredding that went down.
CCS Behind The Ad: Kevin Kowalski
At first glance of the CCS Movement Jeans ad, there are a few things you’d never know. You couldn’t possibly know that Kevin Kowalski took a leaf blower and broom to the spot before rolling in. You almost definitely would never guess that Cody Lockwood stood in to help with the lighting, or that Kevin did it fourth try. But the most impressive and surprising bit of all (and this is totally subjective) is that Kevin made it look chill to slide out of. Pretty much anything on this would be sketchy to try, but he somehow remained in control and mellow about the whole thing. Even though this trick was anything but.
Ryan Lay’s Welcome Wear Test
We hit the streets with CCS team rider Ryan Lay and some of his friends to test out his newest board from Welcome. Ryan’s new board is called Inferno and it comes on his Stonecipher shape that his last board was on. At 8.6 inches wide and 32.5 inches long the Stonecipher shape feels a lot like an 8.5 popsicle and judging by the way he skates it, you can get it to do anything you need. Pick up Ryan’s board today at CCS!
Mikemo And Vince Capaldi Mailorder Memories
Something rad always happens when we pull out our archive of catalogs from back in the day and look through them with other skateboarders. We showed up to Mikemo and Vince Capaldi’s house in Simi Valley with a box full of catalogs and had them grab some that they remembered from their childhood. It turns out Mikemo found the very issue he ordered his first pair of shoes from and even better than that, he actually had them hiding out in a closet in his room. To think that all that buttery smooth flat ground started in a pair of shoes from a CCS catalog is exactly why we do this shit. We love these stories.
100 Kickflips in the C1RCA Gravette with David Gravette
Things are even more right in the world when that pro is CCS team rider, David Gravette and you plug him into the wildness that is Portland’s very own D-Block Skate Park.
John Lucero on the History and Future of Black Label
Few people in the world have stayed as true as Black Label Skateboards founder and sole owner, John Lucero. John and Black Label have given so much to skateboarding over the last 30 plus years, so to re-launch the brand at CCS we decided to get a quick run-through of the history of Label from John himself. We’re excited to be able to offer you the latest and greatest from this iconic company. Check out new Label boards on CCS.com now!

Ben Raybourn’s Road To Ramona
Getting on the road is always nice, but for a professional skateboarder with a handful of sponsors pulling you in lots of directions, sometimes the road can start to wear on you. It’s nice every now and then to just pick a destination, grab a good buddy, and head to the location of your choice with no real set agenda. Well, after a long summer of grueling road trips and video deadlines, we sent CCS team rider Ben Raybourn on a little skate vacation with his homie and CCS filmer, Chris Varcadipane. They wanted to head south and run away from the fresh rains hitting the Pacific Northwest, and as luck would have it, one of the best vert contests in skateboarding was going down that weekend. Ben and Chris managed put themselves to work even on vacation and brought us back this rad edit. It looks like they had a damn good time!
