Nyjah Huston, Curren Caples & More Throw Down at Red Bull Hart Lines 2016

Snow flurries fell from the Detroit sky above Hart Plaza, and with thousands hanging over the walls of the Hart Lines course, they witnessed a level of street skateboarding beyond anything expected. Nyjah Huston, skating at the event for the first time in 2016, put on a technical masterclass over the two-lane course. He’ll take the trophy and a clean $35,000 back to California for his efforts. Last year’s defending champ, Curren Caples, flew through the course on pace for his second-place finish, and the Belgian blur Axel Cruysberghs came in third. Chaz Ortiz & Chicago’s Skateboarding Renaissance

Chicagoans are a proud bunch, and Chaz Ortiz is no exception. The Illinois native has been coming to this city his whole life and know there’s no place like it. Now the local skate scene is primed for an explosion of new talent and revived interest thanks to the introduction of Grant Park Skate Plaza – a park that Chaz says is one of the best he’s ever skated – within the past year. With the skatepark also playing host to Dew Tour, Chaz is relishing the opportunity to compete in front of a hometown crowd that is sure to be pulling for him.
