From a young age, Australia native and longtime DC team rider Tommy Fynn has pushed the boundaries and traveled the globe thanks to skateboarding. In DC’s latest Push Your Own Story installment, Tommy talks us through his personal story, how he conceptualizes new tricks and his plans to keep pushing for the future.

The Kalynx origin story is as unique as the shoe itself. Back in 1998, as Josh was designing his first pro model (the Kalis OG), we began sending him samples. Before the Kalis outsole had been fully designed, we put the Kalis upper on the Lynx outsole so Josh could get a feel of how the shoe would skate. When Brian Panebianco and Kevin Bilyeu were recently visiting Josh, they unearthed this hybrid shoe in his attic and posted photos on social media. Fans were immediately asking for the Kalynx. So, when the conversation came up to do a collab with Nocturnal Skateshop in Philly, it only made sense to bring out the Kalynx, and let Bilyeu and the Philly squad put it to the test.

John Gardner is on a mission to shine a light on suicide and mental health awareness within the skate community. To help in his efforts, John designed an eco-friendly skate collection that raises awareness while also raising funds for the Diné Skate Garden Project in New Mexico. John will be donating all of his royalties to help with the skatepark build, and DC will be matching his contribution.

Black Sabbath’s music—and the heavy metal movement it spawned—is eternally linked to skateboarding history. Sabbath has been the soundtrack for some of the heaviest-hitting video parts of all time. It’s still the pump-up music for skaters—packed into smoke-filled cars, stumbling from spot to spot as Sweet Leaf puffs out of the shitty, blown-out speakers. DC Films is proud to present Cuba Skate. This short documentary highlights the efforts of the nonprofit organization and their dedication to cultivating a sustainable future for skateboarding in Cuba. DC pro Madars Apse joined a crew of skaters and cinematographers as they got a hands-on, inside look at the burgeoning skate scene in Cuba. Beyond just bringing skateboarding to the island, the film showcases how Cuba Skate brings the youth together and helps them to develop useful life skills.
