Get in the van! Life In The Van is a series documenting the most quintessential part of life as a professional skateboarder. Since the beginning, skateboarders have been packing into vans and taking to the open road in search of new towns, new spots, and places to stack clips—not to mention drop in for demos and autograph signings to stoke out the local skateboarders along the way. Skate, eat, sleep, and repeat. Whether it’s for a few weeks or a few months, the bonds formed and the footage captured are what make these trips so special. So, what’s it really like?

SIMPLE SESSION 25 SKATE BEST TRICK
Simple Session’s 25th-anniversary celebrations kicked off raw and real with VISIT ESTONIA’s Best Trick battle at Krulli District. The standout? ‘Kelluke’ (‘The Bell’) — a brand-new, skateable sculpture we built for the City of Tallinn. It’s set to level up the local street spots soon to be locked in at Freedom Square, so get back and session it again!
The session was straight fire, with hammers dropping left and right, all fueled by the Cash for Tricks format. Aaron “Jaws” Homoki (USA) claimed the overall victory with a flawless backside 360 flip melon grab. Jaime Mateu went all out, throwing down the biggest amount of wildest tricks and ultimately splitting the Best Trick prize with Jaws. The highest air contest saw Greyson Fletcher (USA) and Marcello Jiménez (Chile) tie for first after ringing the 2.6-meter high bell.

The Platfrm In The Mix: The Legacy of Combi and Impact of Vans Pool Party
The Combi Pool is truly one of a kind—a legendary spot where an eclectic mix of park, pool, and vert skateboarders come together under one roof. Spanning generations, from the original Combi at Upland Skatepark to today, it’s a space that has witnessed the evolution of skateboarding. Icons like Christian Hosoi, Steve Caballero, Mike McGill, Steve Alba, and many more share the same terrain with the newer wave of skaters, including Arisa Trew, Tom Schaar, Greyson Fletcher, Lilly Erickson, Moto Shibata, and other rising rippers. As the late Jeff Grosso, who embodied the true spirit of Combi, once said, “I am so grateful to be a part of a group of fucking individuals that helped to shape and form it. If you ride a skateboard, I just want everyone to remember how awesome it was and how awesome it is.” The Vans Pool Party was always more than just a contest—it was a gathering everyone anticipated. Now, as we close the chapter on this legendary era, it’s a bittersweet moment for skateboarding. The Platfrm: Halloween Hellbomb 2024: 6 Years of Raising Hell
The most anticipated hill bomb of the year was resurrected over the weekend in Los Angeles, California where hundreds of skate rats donned costumes and padded the sidelines to contain the mayhem. Six years running strong, the Halloween Hellbomb has morphed from a grassroots-level gathering of hill bombers to a cornerstone event that’s looked forward to each year. Making their appearance most notable were Dern brothers Kanaan and Dalton, Dylan Witkin, Taylor Kirby, Josh Douglas, and ruler of the underground Greyson Fletcher. Cheers to Hellbomb committee members Austin Leleu, Bobby Bils, Kyle Walsh, Cory Keen, and everyone else involved for pulling another hell-raising event.
