Jordyn, Part Two | Presented by Toyota USA

Team Toyota athlete Jordyn Barratt grew up in Hawaii skating at Banzai Skatepark. There weren’t any other little girls skating at the park when Jordyn first began. At around 14 years old, Jordyn moved to California and realized there were more skaters just like her. But as she started to compete against some of the girls, she looked up to the competition grew fierce. Gnarly. Some of the older girls were pretty mean, an experience that Jordyn vowed to change for the future girls of skating. It’s not like that anymore, according to Jordyn, partially due to the expanded contest circuit, which has allowed a little more room for everyone to grow. She knows what it’s like to get picked on, so she’s made it a point to make any girls who are coming up feel welcome—the more, the merrier, in her opinion.

Jordyn, Part One | Presented by Toyota USA – Dew Tour

Growing up on the North Shore of O’ahu, Jordyn Barratt was naturally drawn to surfing, but the passion just wasn’t there for her. Instead, she found her passion in skateboarding. Drawing inspiration from ‘80’s skate style, and the skaters who lived it, Jordyn watched those old videos until the VHS was worn out. Now, she often finds herself recreating the tricks from those same during her competition runs. Lately, as a part of Team USA, she’s training harder than ever but still keeping her focus on the most important aspect of skating: having fun.

In many ways, vert skating has become a lost art form. That’s why Tony Hawk and MasterClass have teamed up to bring you the MasterClass presents Tony Hawk’s NBD/Best Trick Challenge. Some of the top male and female skaters in the world had one hour on Tony’s ramp to attempt their best tricks and submit one for voting. Dew Tour Long Beach 2019 Serves as First Global Olympic Qualifying Event In the U.S

This year’s summer Dew Tour competition and festival to be held June 13-16 in Long Beach, Calif. will serve as the first official global Olympic qualifying event in the U.S. for men’s and women’s skateboarding park and street competitions in 2019 and the final qualifying event in 2020. Skateboarding will be part of the Olympic Games for the first time in Tokyo in 2020, and has also been proposed as an additional sport in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

More than 300 of the world’s top male and female skateboarders will compete in individual Park and Street events for a chance to win the Dew Tour title, while earning valuable points toward their country’s Olympic skateboarding team. Expected to compete at this year’s event include USA Skateboarding national team members Nyjah Huston, Jagger Eaton, Tristan Rennie, Mariah Duran, Lacey Baker, Jordyn Barratt, as well as international skaters Oskar Rozenberg (SWE), Kelvin Hoefler (BRA), Pamela Rosa (BRA), Yuto Horigome (JPN), Leticia Bufoni (BRA) and Ryan Decenzo (CAN).
