Nike SB | 20 Years of Nike Skateboarding

While Nike celebrated a half century, they threw their own 20-year party. Let’s rewind to 2002 to where it all began, for a second time.

After many unsuccessful forays into skateboarding, Nike tapped a visionary by the name of Sandy Bodecker to lead a new charge. Fresh off his success integrating Nike into an equally challenging world of global football, Sandy quickly had Nike heading in the right direction with skateboarding, too.

Washington, D.C.’s Crushed Skate Shop take their SB Dunk Low to Freedom Plaza. Featuring Sinquan Bangbeor, Santos Arevalo, Chris Howard, Cairo Augustine, Kevin Augustine, Carlos “Pooch” Kenner, Hojin Chang, Ronnie Thomas, Ayoub Tabri, Jordan Taylo, and Darren Harper.

Nike SB | :58 With Crushed Skate Shop

Founded in 2020, Washington, D.C.’s Crushed Skate Shop sits within the historic U Street Corridor, once known as Black Broadway and the black cultural hub of the city. As the only shop serving the Districts’ skateboarders, Crushed carries on a legacy of D.C. skate shops that have occupied the same retail space for over a decade.
