The Combi Pool is truly one of a kind—a legendary spot where an eclectic mix of park, pool, and vert skateboarders come together under one roof. Spanning generations, from the original Combi at Upland Skatepark to today, it’s a space that has witnessed the evolution of skateboarding. Icons like Christian Hosoi, Steve Caballero, Mike McGill, Steve Alba, and many more share the same terrain with the newer wave of skaters, including Arisa Trew, Tom Schaar, Greyson Fletcher, Lilly Erickson, Moto Shibata, and other rising rippers. As the late Jeff Grosso, who embodied the true spirit of Combi, once said, “I am so grateful to be a part of a group of fucking individuals that helped to shape and form it. If you ride a skateboard, I just want everyone to remember how awesome it was and how awesome it is.” The Vans Pool Party was always more than just a contest—it was a gathering everyone anticipated. Now, as we close the chapter on this legendary era, it’s a bittersweet moment for skateboarding. To honor its legacy, check out Platfrm’s latest In The Mix video, where skaters share their closing remarks on what Combi and the Vans Pool Party meant to them.

The Platfrm First Person: Cory Juneau Takes on the Final Vans Pool Party at Combi
The Combi Pool at the Vans Skatepark in Orange, California has paid homage as a replica of the original from Pipeline Skatepark for over 20 years. The legendary Vans Pool Party made it’s final hoorah at the Combi in 2025, bringing together generations of skateboarders that have been there since the beginning to first-time competitors.
Familiar with Combi bowl since he was a grom, Cory Juneau steps back to the hallowed coping for the first time in years alongside his peers and heroes alike. “Everyone is ripping a lot of old faces, old friends. Picking up where they left off. Nobody has skated it in five and it’s like nostalgic.” Cory takes us through his experience from the past two months in First Person as he rekindles old and new lines, pushes through unexpected physical pain, and feeds off the raw energy that only a place like Combi can bring on finals day.
