On August 21st, 2022, some of the most celebrated skateboarders of the past, present, and future converged at CCS headquarters in Portland, Oregon to chop it up and throw it down on a loading-dock-sized recreation of the legendary Sunset Carwash spot and then a slightly used LeBaron convertible.
The tricks poured in fast like soapy water on the premium setting as the masters of ceremonies Frank Gerwer and Elissa Steamer handed out pine-scented air fresheners of cash for their favorite stunts. And it all ended like the Carwash began… with John Cardiel getting us all hyped up.
Lance Mountain, Elissa Steamer, Paul Rodriguez, and Eric Koston aren’t just skateboarding’s elite; they’ve excelled at the highest level of competition. Along with the checks, the trophies, and the accolades, and what that means for skateboarding supersedes it all. It’s about power, it’s about potential, and every showdown champions those who rise to the occasion and skateboarding as a whole.
Elissa Steamer and Simon Jensen shred the Dead’s hometown of SF; Pedro Attenborough, Pierre Leze and Jose “Sixas” Vivero keep on truckin’ in Barcelona; and Ryuhei Kitazume tunes in from Tokyo to the tune of the Dead’s “Cumberland Blues” 2/21/71 from Workingman’s Dead 50th Anniversary Edition.
