In the early 90s, Tommy, Salman, Sluggo & Jim dressed up and shot some photos for a new board series. Over 30 years later, REAL brought it back with a new crew, new boards and one very committed bunny.
This video follows Ishod, Mason, Nicole & Jimmy as they dig into the archives, hit the costume shop and recreate the classic series shot for shot. Along the way, we catch up with some of the original skaters including Jim who may or may not have ever taken off the bunny suit.
From pushing around on a Pokémon complete from Target to skating Tony Hawk’s vert ramp nearly every day, Jimmy Wilkins’ skateboard journey has come a long way. In this Then/Now episode, he opens up about his first real setup, the chaotic music that defined his early skatepark days, and the unlikely Frank Sinatra and Biggie Smalls mashups he’s into now. Years ago, Max Schaaf rode a dollar-shaped deck for an ad. It was a dumb Idea, but he pulled it off. So naturally, REAL gave Jimmy something even worse and asked him to channel that same energy. Somehow, he did it. And Lived. All is well.

The crew got to spend a few days with Jimmy in his resident town of Cardiff, CA. Lakai told him to act as if they were not there and to just go about his day as he normally would. Jimmy shows us around his house, makes some food, destroyed us in chess, and let us watch him do some woodworking and frame building. To close things out, he takes us to the ramp and started to warm up.

If you were to tell me that one of the best vert skaters ever would come from Osaka Japan I’d have a hard time believing it. Moto Shibata is hands down one of the best to ever do it with style and a consistent bag of tricks that most can’t comprehend. I was lucky enough to catch a session with Moto, Tony Hawk, Jimmy Wilkins, Rob Lorifice, Reef Orlando and Jordyn Barratt at Hawks vert ramp before Moto headed back home to Japan.
