The Cinder Cone

In the Spring of 2014 a small group of close friends broke ground on a building project in Skamania County, Washington in the Columbia River Gorge. Their primary endeavor was a multi-platform tree house, but also included a skate bowl and a wood fired soaking tub as well. The crew came from all over the country and from a variety of backgrounds. Some were professional carpenters, others learned on the job, gaining experience along the way. The Cinder Cone is Foster Huntington’s short film that documents this year-long process of building his dream home with this community of tight knit friends.

Olivier TAVU Ente – Bud Powell Part

The board graphic Tavu drew is based on the story of Francis Paudras and legendary Jazz musician Bud Powell’s friendship. A friendship that was born in Paris (1959) when Francis, a Jazz aficionado and great admirer of Bud’s work decided to help the pianist get out of his state of mental and physical anguish. He took it upon himself to look after him, in his own home, in order to get him composing again. The whole story is beautifully told in Francis Paudras’ Dance Of The Infidels, that later (1986) became the basis for the scenario of Bertrand Tavernier’s Round Midnight.
