Erick Winkowski Interview – CCS

Is it offensive to call Erick Winkowski a freak of nature? Because there aren’t many more ways we can think of to explain him to someone. Between balancing on one arm on top of vert ramps for what seems like hours and grinding massive rails on a board shape that was never meant to leave a ramp, Erick has been on a war path lately. We sat down with him to talk a little about his first pro model board for Santa Cruz and his video part from Right to Exist. We have a new batch of his boards coming in to the shop real soon here, but they’re gonna go quick so stay tuned!

How To Build The Jaws Jumper: Ep. 7 Kev’s Kreations

We don’t get nearly as many guest stars on The Kreations as we should, but that all changes today! On the first of what will hopefully be many guest-hosted episodes, we got CCS team rider and professional building jumper, Aaron “Jaws” Homoki to come down to the warehouse and show us how to jump! We built the ultimate impact board so Jaws could splat off the second floor of our warehouse. Did he land it? Gotta watch to see!

100 Kickflips In The Reynolds G6 with Kader Sylla

If you want to properly wear test an Andrew Reynolds shoe, you call up Andrew Reynolds. If he happens to split his shin open the week before you’re supposed to shoot the wear test and gets a nasty infection, then you may have to call in back ups. Thankfully The Boss has a pretty solid back up squad. We threw Kader Sylla in a pair of Reynolds G6’s and we could barley tell the difference! He kickflipped all over the damn place and officially became one of our favorite skaters ever. See how the G6’s held up to his small yet mighty flick and then pick up a pair at CCS!

Burnside Halloween 2017 – CCS

CCS celebrated the 27th birthday of Burnside Skatepark on a mysteriously warm Halloween evening among a carnivorous costume combustion of ghouls, goblins, punks, and drunks! The evolution of Burnside continues with the addition of the new concrete death hole and huge quarter pipe. Each year, skaters young and old step to new obstacles and push the limits of what can be done at the park. Through the misty smoke from fireworks, the ear-piercing riffs blasting from punk bands’ amp stacks, and the carcass crashing cross traffic in the park, CCS managed to capture some carnage that went down that day… Watch this video ’cause the bowl troll’s were out for blood at Burnside this Halloween.

adidas Skateboarding Campus Vulc 2 x Alltimers

Nothing’s off limits for Alltimers. Well, they’re not big on taking things too seriously, but they’re exceptions to every rule, right? For this adidas x Alltimers collab, Alltimers helped give its signature look and feel to the heritage inspired Campus Vulc. Going along with the nostalgia feel, the Campus Vulc x Alltimers shoe features synthetic two-tone stripes at the side panels, woven VIP Lounge labels on the tongue, and terry cloth heel cup detailing and lining.

100 Kickflips With Lizard King In The Supra Kensington

When the rest of the world was staring at the sun during the 2017 eclipse, Lizard King and the rest of the Supra team was driving in route to CCS for a demo. That’s probably not entirely true – surely they pulled over and checked out the eclipse at some point. After signing some quick autographs and disposing of a dozen or so pizzas, Supra headed out to the Ed Benedict Skate Plaza where we caught up with the man, the myth, the legend, Lizard King to film his 100 kickflips wear test. His pro model Kensington colorway is Brown/Bone, so that’s the shoe he skated for the wear test. Aside from popping every kickflip waist high, Lizard King kickflipped on, out of, over, onto, and into everything at the park. In the end, the shoes looked great. The Kensington is a reimagined chukka version of Supra’s popular Flow slip-on shoe. See how they held up and grab a pair at CCS.com.

How To Build The Rambo Ripper: Ep. 6 Kev’s Kreations

Shakespeare once said, “Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.” In the case of the loveable, triggered vietnam veteran, John Rambo, all three are true. In this very special Kev’s Kreations, Kev is visited by none other than Rambo himself. Watch as Kev sets out to make a simple camo complete only to be slowly possessed by what can only be described as the spirit of deranged vietnam veteran with nothing to lose. The plan was simple: build a camo complete using Krux Trucks, Spitfire Wheels, Indy Bearings, A Paisley Skateboard, and MOB Griptape with the help of a custom Acembly Backpack. But something went terribly wrong. At what point Kev was overtaken by the spirit of John Rambo is unclear. But one thing is certain, watching him claw his way back to his former self after going on a curb slashing, throat cutting, bowel piercing rampage makes this one Kev’s Kreations you won’t want to miss.

Mini El Toro Skateboard Contest

You’ll never need an excuse to skate, but it takes a special kind of excuse to throw an event like the CCS El Torito Skate Contest. In this particular case, it was the grand opening of our CCS retail space in Portland, OR. By noon, the day of the event, the $2000 in cash prizes and scope of El Torito loomed large in the mind’s of every skateboarder within a 100 mile radius of the new CCS retail store. Regardless if they were going to skate El Torito or not, every skateboarder in the area was definitely getting ready to head out to the contest and cash in on the promises of free giveaways, beer, pizza, and good skating.

Go Skateboarding Day 2017: Pop For Pizza

If a skateboard trick only takes you about one second to perform and you can get a free slice of pizza for that skateboard trick, then that means you could’ve got 3,600 slices of pizza an hour if you were some sort of super human. This is the kind of math we ended up doing this year on Go Skateboarding Day! Our friends at Sizzle Pie hooked us up with 25 pizzas to go all over Portland and trade slices for hammers! All in all we gave 250 slices of pizza to 250 skaters at parks all around CCS headquarters! Check out our recap of the day!
