Founded in 2020, Washington, D.C.’s Crushed Skate Shop sits within the historic U Street Corridor, once known as Black Broadway and the black cultural hub of the city. As the only shop serving the Districts’ skateboarders, Crushed carries on a legacy of D.C. skate shops that have occupied the same retail space for over a decade. Nike SB | froSkate | All Love, No Hate

Loud, proud, colorful, and full of energy, respectfully. That’s froSkate, a Women and POC–centered skate crew based in Chicago founded by Karlie Thornton in 2019. In just three years froSkate’s not only grown exponentially but become a global example of empowerment in skateboarding through inclusion, positivity, and being unabashedly real.

For their first collaboration with Nike SB, froSkate designed a Nike Dunk Pro High SB that reflects their diversity, style, heritage, and personality, using every inch of the classic silhouette as a platform for their mission statement and swag.

For the past three years, Nike SB’s Not Here By Luck series has been shining a light on emerging talents within women’s skateboarding. The latest episode offers a candid insight into the life of 19-year-old Julie Betrix.

Hailing from Annecy, France, Julie, like many of her peers, began skiing in the mountains before a childhood friend inspired her to take up skateboarding. It wasn’t long before the local skate shop made Julie their first female team rider.
