SIX FEET ABOVE RETREAT AT THE SANDLOT

Recently, The Sandlot had the opportunity to host and hang out with Six Feet Above for a fun-filled day of skateboarding.

Six Feet Above was founded and is operated by veterans that understand that feeling of connectedness to a group and that sense of being part of something bigger than yourself. Losing that feeling of being attached, close and thoroughly accepted by your people is something all too common with veterans after leaving the service.

The goal of Six Feet above is to provide veterans and service members a cost-free retreat/resource center focused around skateboarding and other positive therapies to help veterans and service members win their battles with mental illness, to include post-traumatic stress (PTS).

Alexis Sablone | Red Bull SŌLUS 2021 Entry

Ryan Sheckler has once again opened the doors to his skatepark and invited 17 of the world’s most well-rounded skateboarders to battle it out in year two of Red Bull SŌLUS. Each skater has one hour to put together their best line at The Sandlot; no crowd, no other skaters, no distractions – just an internal battle to get the best line possible.

Possibly the smartest skater in the Solus contest, Alexis Sablone has two master’s degrees to go along with her 20 plus year career in the skate spotlight. She is a legend of street skateboarding that commands the respect from the core group of the anti-contest skaters, while still being able to have that same audience cheer her on while she competes in the recent Tokyo Olympics. That’s the range all skaters want.

Alexis skates for Alltimers, Converse, Orchard Skate Shop, Thunder, and Dialtone.

Judges Vanessa Torres, Mike Sinclair, and Jason Rothmeyer will evaluate each video based on style, progression and creativity. Following the judges announcement, you will have a chance to vote on your favorite video part and the fan favorite will be announced on October 20th.

Lucas Rabelo | Red Bull SŌLUS 2021 Entry

Ryan Sheckler has once again opened the doors to his skatepark and invited 17 of the world’s most well-rounded skateboarders to battle it out in year two of Red Bull SŌLUS. Each skater has one hour to put together their best line at The Sandlot; no crowd, no other skaters, no distractions – just an internal battle to get the best line possible.

Just turning pro last year, Lucas has already made his mark on the contest circuit with a bag of handrail moves that only he can do consistently like hard flip frontside nose slides and bigger flip frontside boardslides. So, don’t blink during his run because you might see something you’ve never seen before.

Lucas skates for Flip, Red Bull, Jessup, Matriz Skateshop, and Thunder Trucks.

Judges Vanessa Torres, Mike Sinclair, and Jason Rothmeyer will evaluate each video based on style, progression and creativity. Following the judges announcement, you will have a chance to vote on your favorite video part and the fan favorite will be announced on October 20th.
