You Can Make History – Long Live Southbank
In 2015, Long Live Southbank’s award-winning film ‘You Can’t Move History, You Can Secure the Future’ looked at young people’s engagement with cultural heritage through the example of the Long Live Southbank (LLSB) campaign to save the Undercroft skate space. Since the end of 2015, the relationship between the Southbank’s communities and policymakers has improved dramatically. LLSB’s new film, You Can Make History, documents the ongoing project to restore previously closed-off areas of the Undercroft, and the changes in the relationship between young people and policymakers on London’s Southbank. As well as showcasing the progress made by LLSB, it allows Southbank Centre management a space to articulate their experience of moving towards a more positive and collaborative relationship with the Long Live Southbank campaign. In doing so it asks questions about young people and their relationship with cultural heritage, the communications flow between grassroots and more formal organisations and the relationship between skating, art and academia.

We have appointed Lambeth based construction firm Henny Limited to carry out the build, who specialise in paving, flooring and heritage restoration works. We’re so hyped to share this news after a long period of fundraising and wanted to extend a massive shout out to everyone who has helped us get to where we are today – Long Live South Bank.

2018 Boards for Bros Build Day In Honor of Matt Woods
Thanks to SPoT’s friends at Vans, they had an awesome day full of building and giving the gift of skateboarding to Tampa Bay area nonprofits. SPoT kicked off their day by welcoming VIP guests from Positive Spin, Boys and Girls Club Liberty Teen Center and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Each guest got to build their own skateboard, customize the grip, get a skate lesson and a yummy lunch from The Bricks. After their distribution party, SPoT set everything up in the Courtyard for their Annual Board Build In Memory of Matt Woods. SPoT welcomed a ton of volunteers and they helped us build over 200 skateboards for upcoming holiday distributions.
