Riley came to Lakai after the launch of his Dad’s shoe, inspired by the commercial that Tony and Manchild had created. He wanted to do something similar, a conceptual commercial with a collection to match. Riley decided to create an 80’s Dogtown vibe with the shoes, apparel, and commercial. Baker was down to make it a co-branded project, and the rest is history.
Cody Chapman comes correct with his team edition Newport Hi Colorway and Cold Dawg Pack. Cody moved to Los Angeles 6 months ago and has stayed busy in the streets. When deciding what to shoot for his newest ad, he decided to take it back home to Santa Cruz, CA right down by the beach. Enjoy this commercial from Cody’s ad shoot complete with homies, brews, and plenty of stoke!
When it came time for Yonnie to design a team edition shoe, he decided to put his own spin on an existing model that he already loved to skate, the Fremont. Yonnie updated and colored the Fremont upper and put it on our PARA-MOUNT™ outsole with DELUX-LITE™ footbeds and custom insole artwork. Watch him put them to the test in this heavy line at Union Square. Pick up a pair HERE.
Puerto Rico is an amazing place with great people, food, beaches, and an abundance of skate spots. Yonnie Cruz’s family lives there, so with him as our guide we covered a lot of miles up, down, and across the island. Watch Yonnie, Stevie, Cody, Simon, Tyler, Griffin, and James rip through some of PR’s finest offerings.
Lakai headed to Tokyo, Japan for the launch of Tony Hawk’s inaugural Lakai shoe, The Proto. With an all-star line up in an incredible destination, the stoke was at an all time high. People came from all over Japan to be some of the first to get their hands on a pair of Tony Hawk signature Lakai’s and to meet the crew.
Watch Tony Hawk, Riley Hawk, Mike Carroll, Rick Howard, Tyler Pacheco, and Jimmy Wilkins roll through Tokyo in this edit from their Japanese Distributor, OSC Distribution.
New Lakai Proto colors will be available January 25th at Lakai.com
When CCS texted Tony Hawk about doing 100 of a trick in his Lakai shoe, on VERT, he made sure to let them know that meant he had to hit almost 200 walls of his ramp in one session. Not skating vert, we didn’t really know what this meant. Apparently it’s like running a marathon just to hit 12 walls in one run, so it was a tall order. Thankfully, Tony is as pro as he was at 14 and banged them out for us with a smile! We couldn’t be more stoked to see the legend in one of CCS’s wear tests! See how his shoe held up and grab a pair at CCS.com today!
Yonnie Cruz and Vincent Alvarez for the Lakai x Theories collection. Check out this full East Coast meets West Coast edit featuring Yonnie and Vincent skating through New York City and Downtown Los Angeles. See the Lakai x Theories footwear and apparel collection HERE.
The Lakai team headed down to Prince Park in Oceanside, CA to skate, barbecue, and toss out a bunch of product. The guys ripped every square inch of the park and hundreds of dogs were grilled for everyone that came out. Check the full edit here with Tony, Jimmy, Manchild, Stevie, Vincent and others.
Lakai teamed up with their friend, OG professional skateboarder Jovontae Turner, and created a shoe with his ideas and input. Being an innovator of style and footwear in skateboarding, we felt that Jovontae should have a shoe with his own twist on it, that matches his stylish aesthetic on and off the board. What better way to celebrate than to grab Carroll, Tae, and the crew and head back to the place where it all began.
In the summer of 2017, Simon was in a terrible car accident resulting in a shattered pelvis and multiple fractures throughout his body. What would have put some people out for years didn’t even set Simon back an entire year. 10 months later and he is back on an absolute terror. Watch Simon rip some backyard pools in his first skate edit back since the accident. We love ya Simon!
We teamed up with our friends at Pawn Shop Skate Co. and had a jam session at West Covina park, home park of Vincent Alvarez. We brought the dogs and the beers and good times were had by all. Watch the full edit here.
Skateboarding and Metal music have always been a perfect match. We are beyond stoked to release a full collection of Lakai x Motörhead goods and a video to go along with it. Riley has been a fan of Lemmy and Motörhead for a long time, so it made perfect sense to center this collaboration around Riley and his new shoe, the Riley 2. Watch Riley rip it up with special guest clip from Tony Hawk.
