Grosso Forever: Paul Kobriger’s Jeff Grosso Tribute | Skate | VANS

In honor of the anniversary of the passing of Jeff Grosso, Vans’ beloved larger than life champion of all things skateboarding, Steve Van Doren commissioned artist Paul Kobriger to create a very special ball point pen hyper realism rendition of photographer Joe Brook’s timeless portrait to hang prominently in The Jeff Grosso Room at Vans HQ. Paul is primarily a portrait artist living in Escondido, CA.. He grew up skateboarding and drawing in a small town in Wisconsin before moving to San Diego. At age 39 after 20 years of not creating a single art piece, Paul rediscovered his talent and love of drawing. Watch as Kobriger takes us through the process of bringing portraits to life in his own unique style.

Vans South Africa Presents: FACETIOUS | Skate | VANS

Facetious is Vans South Africa’s skate team’s first ever video project. The video has been in the works in the last 3 years. Vnas widely diverse team covers all corners of South Africa – from Cape Town to Johannesburg and all the way to Kimberly and features everything from 17ft pools to slappy curbs; they went far and wide to gather footage for this project. Skateboarding has created a culture of looking at the world through a different lens and we are surrounded by people that always find a silver lining. We often find humor in situations that, to the average person, is no laughing matter. Whether we walk off a heavy slam or survive a hill bomb, we facetiously
cope with whatever is thrown at us. Facetious is nothing but proud South African homage.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Greg Hunt—whose talent brought to life Vans’ first full-length skateboarding video, PROPELLER—Alright, OK is yet another masterpiece, encapsulating an epic labor of love by pro Elijah Berle, who worked tirelessly over two hard years to land arguably the best tricks of his career. Elijah shares the screen with Vans teammate and Richmond native, Gilbert Crockett, whose contrasting, eccentric style flows alongside Elijah’s timeless form like yin to yang.
