Facetious is Vans South Africa’s skate team’s first ever video project. The video has been in the works in the last 3 years. Vnas widely diverse team covers all corners of South Africa – from Cape Town to Johannesburg and all the way to Kimberly and features everything from 17ft pools to slappy curbs; they went far and wide to gather footage for this project. Skateboarding has created a culture of looking at the world through a different lens and we are surrounded by people that always find a silver lining. We often find humor in situations that, to the average person, is no laughing matter. Whether we walk off a heavy slam or survive a hill bomb, we facetiously
cope with whatever is thrown at us. Facetious is nothing but proud South African homage.

Vans Europe Presents: Kingdom For A Cooler | Skate | VANS

Mid-February is always a difficult time to pick a destination for a skate trip in Europe due to the winter. This year the Vans Europe skate team, along with some of the Vans Germany team, decided to fly across the Mediterranean and check out the spots that the Kingdom of Morocco had to offer. As if they knew that this would be the last time they could travel together as they’re used to for a while, the crew blazed through the beautiful country without leaving a spot untouched. While chasing the sun and the warmth from Tangier all the way down to Agadir, there was no shortage of laughs, hi-jinx and good times. Pride | Yann Horowitz’s Coming Out Day Story | Skate | VANS

After Yann Horowitz kissed his boyfriend in celebration of winning the Vans Park Series African Continental Championships in 2018, Yann’s fearless yet fabulous style became the talk of skateboarding. Yann realized his skating and sexual identity were becoming intertwined, and he had to ask himself, “Do I really want to be the ‘gay skateboarder’?” In the past five years, questions of sexuality and identity in our culture have come into the spotlight, and individuals like Yann have faced the complicated balancing act of being both an inspiration, and still holding on to who they are. In this short Coming Out Day documentary Skateism and Vans followed Yann back to his roots in South Africa, to find out more about where he came from and where he’s headed.
